1927 New York Yankees World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,112.50
Rare 1927 New York Yankees World Series press pin. The decorative pin, designed in the shape of a shield, is further accompanied by the special provenance of having once resided in the personal collection of legendary Yankees scout Paul Krichell (the man who discovered Lou Gehrig) and has been consigned directly from his family. The 1927 New York Yankees, powered by Ruth, Gehrig, and the other members of baseball’s famed “Murderer's Row,” are still considered by many historians to be the greatest team ever assembled. Their World Series performance that year certainly affirmed that title, as the Yankees easily swept the Pirates in four straight games. The pin (approximately 1 x 1.25 inches), manufactured by Dieges & Clust, features its original threaded-post back and is in Excellent to Mint condition. This is an outstanding example of one of the most desirable of all World Series press pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
