2006 Derek Jeter Signed Pro Model Bat (Steiner)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,937.50

This phenomenal pro model bat was used by Derek Jeter during the 2006 season and has not only been signed by Jeter, but is also accompanied by a signed letter from him attesting to its provenance. This bat originates directly from Yankees-Steiner Collectibles, the official collectibles company of the New York Yankees, which exclusively markets all authentic game-used Yankees jerseys and equipment. Jeter's letter has been typed on Steiner Sports letterhead and reads in part: "I, Derek Jeter, hereby certify that I have personally used this bat during the 2006 Major League season....I have added my signature to the bat in the presence of a Steiner Sports representative so that you are completely confident that the bat and signature are authentic." The black Louisville Slugger signature model "P72" bat displays significant use in the form of numerous ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, cleat marks, a heavy application of pine tar, and a five-inch crack in the handle. The incredible amount of use has affected a tiny portion of Jeter's stamped facsimile signature, to the point where the "J" in "Jeter" is now partially obscured. Jeter has signed the bat in silver paint-pen (grading "8") on the "sweet spot" of the barrel. Jeter enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career in 2006. The Yankees' captain batted .343 with 14 home runs and 97 RBI. Those numbers, combined with another Yankees division title, led to Jeter's strongest showing ever in the MVP balloting (a close second place finish behind Minnesota's Justin Morneau). Length: 34 inches. Weight: 31.6 ounces. Graded A9.5 by MEARS (5 point base grade, plus 3 points for use, 2 points for provenance, and minus one-half point because of the slightly obscured facsimile signature). This is without question one of the finest Jeter pro model bats that could possibly exist, both in terms of use and provenance. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,937.50
