1915 Brooklyn Robins Presentation Team Photo Display

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $822.50

Offered here is an extremely substantial and simply outstanding photographic display piece featuring the 1915 Brooklyn Nationals. This framed display was obviously produced at great expense specifically for presentation, and based on its extraordinary quality may have been produced by the team for the Brooklyn players. The original photograph captures twenty-four members of the 1915 Brooklyn Robins in a traditional team pose. Included are manager Wilbert Robinson (seated in the center), Zach Wheat, Rube Marquard, Casey Stengel, Jake Daubert, Jeff Pfeffer, Jack Coombs, George Cutshaw, and Hy Myers. Each of the players is identified in print on the high-quality custom matting as issued. Also lettered on the matting is the name of the team and year, "Brooklyn National League Baseball Club - 1915." Although the team posted a respectable 82-70 record in 1915, finishing in third place, it wasn't until the following season that Robinson's rebuilding effort came to full fruition. Led by strong performances on the mound by Pfeffer and Marquard and the timely hitting of Wheat and Daubert, Brooklyn captured its first pennant in franchise history in 1916. All but one of the players pictured here (John Hummel) were members of that pennant-winning club. The photograph (13 x 6.25 inches) displays flawless contrast and tones, and has some very light rippling and a few extremely minor surface abrasions, which do not detract in the least from its overall Excellent to Mint condition. This is a stunning early Brooklyn Robins team photographic display. Framed to total dimensions of 18.75 x 14 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $822.50
