1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Mike Powers

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,115.00

Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. Rare sample card from the legendary E107 Breisch-Williams series featuring catcher Mike “Doc” Powers from the Philadelphia Athletics of the National League. Issued in 1903, these unusual and classic-looking black-and-white caramel cards have long been revered by collectors. E107s represent the only major baseball card set of the era, filling the void between the popular photographic cards of the 1880s and the many tobacco and caramel card issues of the 1910 era. This set includes many players that appear in no other sets. Bright and clean, with evenly rounded corners, and a perfectly clean blank-back reverse. Downgraded by SGC for a tiny ink spot on his chest which has slightly bled through to the back. This is a very attractive example with a far superior appearance than suggested by its harsh SGC grade. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,115.00
