Joe DiMaggio Signed Cracker Jack Old Timers' Baseball Classic Complete Uniform

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,175.00

This is the complete uniform issued to Joe DiMaggio for use in one of the Cracker Jack Old Timers' Baseball Classic games. The first Cracker Jack Old Timers' Baseball Classic was held in 1982, in Washington, D. C., and was conceived as a fundraiser for the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. This was a first-class Old-Timers' all-star game, with most of the game's most legendary retired stars participating in the event, including Mantle, Musial, and older stars such as Luke Appling (who hit a home run off of Warren Spahn in the 1982 game to lead the AL to a 7-2 win over the NL). The game proved so popular with fans that it continued as an annual event for several years before finally ending in the mid 1980s. This a rare Joe DiMaggio uniform and, obviously, one of the last uniforms ever worn by the famed “Yankee Clipper.” The white knit jersey is lettered “American” across the front and features the number “5” on the reverse. “DiMaggio” is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All front letters and the number are silk-screened on in red. The name is appliquéd in red vinyl letters. The official Cracker Jack Old Timers' Baseball Classic logo appears on the right sleeve. A “Rawlings 46” label is located on the left front tail. DiMaggio has signed the jersey in blue Sharpie (grading “8”) in the collar. The jersey is accompanied by the matching pants, bearing a “Rawlings 40” tag in the waistband, as well as a pair of red stirrup socks and pair of white sanitary hose. The jersey is all original, with no alterations, and displays light wear including light staining on the reverse. The pant legs display moderate staining on both the front and reverse. The jersey is graded A9.5 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with a half point deducted for the stain on the reverse). From the Barry Halper Collection. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,175.00
