1915 E145 Cracker Jack #57 Walter Johnson SGC NM/MT 88
Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $11,750.00
Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Outstanding ultra high-grade factory-set-fresh card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson. This is an incredible high-grade gem. Only one example of this classic card has ever been graded higher by SGC. While Cracker Jacks were issued one card per box, in 1915 the entire set of 176 cards could also be ordered by mail in exchange for 100 coupons, or 1 coupon plus 25 cents. This card no doubt originates from a perfectly preserved factory set. Cracker Jacks are universally regarded as one of the most classic and highly regarded baseball card sets ever produced, and Walter Johnson is certainly one of the key greats of the set. This is a stunning example, with perfect centering, flawless registration, no stains, four sharp corners, and with a particularly deep red background. The reverse of the card is perfectly bright and clean, with crisp, bold black text. It is rare to find any Cracker Jack card in such high grade, let alone a high-grade example of legendary Hall of Famer Walter Johnson. One of the finest examples in existence of one of card collecting's undisputed classics. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $12,750. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000+.
