"60 Home Run" Signed Photo Display Including Babe Ruth and Roger Maris
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $7,050.00
In the history of baseball only five players have ever hit sixty or more home runs in a season. This unique and beautifully framed display commemorates that remarkable accomplishment, presenting a signed 8 x 10-inch photograph of each of the five members of that elite fraternity: Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds. It must be noted that the Sosa photo features an often-encountered secretarial signature of the slugger; however, its inclusion here in no way detracts from the display's outstanding visual appeal. Fittingly, Ruth's black-and-white photograph commands center stage in the display: the stunning signed photograph is inscribed and dated in black fountain pen ("9") "To my pal Jack Reynolds from Babe Ruth 2-28-47." The four additional color photos are all flawlessly signed by the respective player (with the exception of Sosa) in either blue or black Sharpie ("10"). All of the photos are in Near Mint condition. The entire framed display measures 40.5 x 31.5 inches. From the Barry Halper Collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $7,050.00
