Pete Rose Single-Signed Baseballs (72)
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,643.75
This full case of seventy-two Pete Rose single-signed baseballs is notable due to the fact that Rose has added a number of specially inscribed notations below his signature. All of the balls are official Major League (Selig) balls and each has been signed by Rose in blue ink (“9" to "10”) across the sweet spot. The difference between them lies in the nature of Rose's additional notations. Twenty-four of the balls feature the printed inscription "Hit King" below his name. Another twenty-four display the printed notation "1963 ROY" (acronym for "Rookie of the Year"), and the remaining twenty-four bear the notation "1973 MVP." Approximately twenty-five percent of the balls display a few small areas of light age toning. Otherwise, all of the balls are in Near Mint to Nr/Mt-Mt condition. From the Barry Halper Collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 72 baseballs. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,643.75
