Hardcover first edition of The Story of Baseball by John Rosenburg (Random House, New York, 1962), signed on the interior by forty-seven different players including sixteen Hall of Famers. Thirty-five of the players have signed the book on the two opposing front flyleaves, while the remainder have signed on the interior pages near their respective photographs. The sixteen Hall of Famers represented here are Joe DiMaggio (twice), Greenberg (twice), Kiner, Killebrew, Irvin, Doby, Carlton, Kaline, George L. Kelly, Frisch, Cronin, Musial, Dickey, Stengel, MacPhail and Ford. Other signers include Joe Page, Ralph Branca, Joe Bush, Carl Erskine, Carl Furillo, Don Larsen, Billy Martin, Ed Lopat, Gene Woodling, Gene Mauch, Felix Millan, Claude Osteen, Rusty Torres, Gene Tenace, Tug McGraw, Bud Harrelson, Rusty Staub, Specs Torporcer, Joe Pignatano, Frank O'Rourke, Bill White, Ed Charles, Jim Wilson and Earl Battey. All of the signatures have been boldly scripted (in a variety of inks) and grade "9/10." The 176-page book (8.25 x 11.25 inches) is in Excellent condition and includes the original dust jacket (Gd-Vg, with a few tears throughout). From the Barry Halper Collection.
