1960 Mickey Mantle "Sky-Hi" Game
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $235.00
Mickey Mantle's success on the field, as well as his rising popularity with fans nationwide, was well noted by Madison Avenue executives during the 1950s and early 1960s. As a result, his endorsement soon became commonplace on a myriad of diverse products. Offered here is one such item: a rare "Mickey Mantle's Sky-HI" children's game produced by the Keen Eye Co. Inc. in 1960. The game, which consists of four wooden rods and a circular plastic ring, is complete in its original cardboard packaging that features an illustrated likeness of Mantle. This piece is especially rare in that includes a special 1960 sweepstakes attachment. The cardboard attachment, stapled to the original packaging, features a portrait image of Mantle and includes an official entry form for a chance to win a free trip to the 1960 World Series. The packaging displays only the lightest natural shelf wear and the wooden rods display adhesive residue, probably from the removal of the original price stickers. Excellent condition. The sweepstakes attachment displays minor abrasions and light toning, and is in Very Good condition. The game has been very attractively mounted within a Plexiglas display case (29 x 14 x 3 inches) for ideal presentation. From the Barry Halper Collection. Reserve $200. Estimate $300/$500.
