Mickey Mantle Advertising Display Collection Including One Signed (3)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $411.25

Collection of three Mickey Mantle promotional pieces highlighted by a vintage 1956 Wheaties newspaper advertisement signed by Mantle, Willie Mays, and Al Kaline. The two-page centerfold advertisement pictures all three signers, as well as Ted Kluszewski, in promotion of the Wheaties Home Run Sweepstakes. The newspaper pages have been affixed to a cardboard mount, with both the Mantle and Kaline signatures scripted upon the top border of the mount. The Mays signature appears directly across his image. All of the signatures have been penned in blue Sharpie and grade "10." The advertisement (20 x 14.5 inches) displays light toning and a few moderate creases. In Very Good condition. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 26 x 20 inches. The second piece is a 1981 Eveready Battery cardboard advertising display promoting the company's sweepstakes to win a "World Series TV Party with Mickey Mantle." Intended for retail display, the piece pictures Mantle holding a bat and two Eveready batteries, and still includes the original tear-away sweepstakes forms in the lower right corner. The advertisement (17 x 14.75 inches) is in Very Good condition and exhibits both corner wear and a center vertical crease. Mounted and framed to total dimensions of 24 x 22 inches. The final piece is a circa 1980s die-cut cardboard retail display for A&W Root Beer. The display piece pictures a large image of Mantle in uniform and was issued in conjunction with the company's "Free Baseball Mail-in Offer." This piece was originally intended to be mounted onto a pole (not included) and does not appear to have ever been used. Close examination reveals a crease to the die-cut portion of Mantle's bat as well as some minor border wear, still with a Near Mint overall appearance. The advertisement (16 x 26.25 inches) has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 21.5 x 30 inches. From the Barry Halper Collection. Please note: due to the number of framed items in this lot, the shipping charges (depending on where it is sent and method of shipping) may be substantial. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 3 advertising displays. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $411.25
