Extraordinary 1913 Deering Advertising Baseball Calendar
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For -
Simply amazing and beautiful large advertising calendar issued in 1913 by Deering features an illustration capturing a slice of Americana. Nostalgic in tone, beautiful in composition, and reminiscent of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and friends at play, this large format wall calendar captures what was a very common sight back in 1913: a group of youngsters, barefoot and with farm fields in the background, playing an exciting game of baseball. Issued by Deering in promotion of its powered mowers, the bottom portion of the piece features a tear-away calendar that is currently displaying the month of February. The cardboard display piece measures 13.25 x 19.75 inches and is technically in Good to Very Good condition overall, with two large horizontal creases as well a few lesser border tears and creases. In terms of aesthetics, however, the piece delivers a "home run," retaining all of its intended visual appeal. This is an extraordinary display piece and the first example of this rare advertising calendar we have ever seen. Framed to total dimensions of 23 x 30 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
