1915 PM1 Ty Cobb Ornate Border Pin

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Circa 1915 baseball pinback rarity of key Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. PM1s are one of the most distinctive and popular of all early baseball pin issues. Sometimes referred to as the "fancy border pin set," PM1s are designed with an oval real photo set in an ornately designed mount. A total of approximately 25 different PM1s are known to exist. Surprisingly, new additions to this set are still being made at this late date. An extraordinary discovery of a PM1 of Babe Ruth was made just during this past year. Ty Cobb is certainly one of the keys to the set, and the rarity of this pin is far greater than virtually any of the many classic cards of Ty Cobb issued during this era. The photo has minor imperfections but a very strong image (especially for this series). Overall in Very Good condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
