1930s Babe Ruth "Yankiboy" Baseball Uniform Box
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,160.00
During the 1930s Babe Ruth endorsed many different types of products. Nearly every kid in America wanted to be like his hero, Babe Ruth. Acknowledging that desire, the people at Yankiboy Play Clothes were only too happy to oblige. Offered is the original box to Yankiboy's "Official Babe Ruth Uniform," the garb that would turn any youngster into a diminutive "Sultan of Swat." This is an extremely rare box which is a prize for display. The box cover features a large full-length photo of Ruth at the plate. The company's motto, "Make the Children Happy," appears along the bottom. This is an extremely high-grade example of this very rare Babe Ruth display box. In fact, this may be the finest example we have ever seen. While technically in Very Good to Excellent condition due to a virtually undetectable light stain in the lower left corner (very unobtrusive, and not in the least affecting the display value) and a few small tears along the aprons, the box has a very strong Excellent appearance. It would be hard to imagine a finer example. Included with the Ruth box is a generic Yankiboy baseball suit in its original box. This second box features illustrations of the company's numerous play clothes outfits on the top, and the uniform is complete with the original hat. Ex-Mt. Dimensions: each box 11 x 14 x 1.5 inches. Total 2 boxes plus one complete Yankiboy uniform. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,160.00
