1887 Chicago Base Ball Club Advertising Currency

Classic baseball advertising currency featuring the 1887 Chicago Nationals. Such currencies were issued for several teams by various merchants over a period of several years. The front of this advertising piece features a portrait of Chicago Nationals President A. G. Spalding, a full-length batting pose of Cap Anson, and advertising for "E.G. Marriott, Shoe Store." The reverse depicts portraits of twelve members of the powerhouse Chicago Nationals including John Clarkson, Cap Anson, and Billy Sunday. These advertising currencies are very thin and easily damaged. This example is in far superior condition than usually found. Very slightly miscut along the top border, with two very tiny vertical tears on the top edge (both common problems with these currencies), otherwise in crisp and clean Excellent condition.
