1888 A16 Allen & Ginter and A42 Kimball Albums (2)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,610.00
Two classic nineteenth-century premium sports albums: 1) First Series 1888 A16 Allen & Ginter Worlds Champions premium album features images of all fifty cards from the N28 Allen & Ginter set (including Anson, Kelly, Clarkson, Comiskey, etc.). Bright, crisp, clean interior pages. Four pages including the cover (plus rifle shooters, billiard players, and wrestlers) have separated from the original string binding, otherwise in Excellent condition with original string binding. 2) 1888 W. S. Kimball Champions of Sports and Games premium album featuring images of all fifty cards from the 1888 N184 Kimball set, including all four baseball players, as well as boxers, and other stars of the sporting world. The album is missing its original string binding but all pages are complete and intact. Four of the pages have a single additional binding hole punched at the far left edge which is very minor and appears to be an original manufacturing flaw. (This small flaw does not affect the page with four baseball players which is in Excellent condition). Otherwise the interior pages are Ex. The covers are Vg/Vg-Ex, the front cover has some minor general wear and the back cover has some pencil marks and binding hole tears. These classic premium albums represent an outstanding value among nineteenth-century tobacco issues. Total 2 albums. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,610.00
