Circa 1890s Baseball Lithograph Display

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $812.00

This rare nineteenth-century art print depicts a young ballplayer, dressed in the style of the times, posing in a batting stance. Pictured in the immediate background are two young female admirers as they stroll through a field. A baseball grandstand filled to capacity can be seen in the distance. Beautiful in composition and vibrant in color, this piece was designed and produced at great expense for display in fine homes of the Victorian era. Very few baseball-related art prints of this quality date from this early era. It is, of course, ideal for display, as originally intended. The image area measures 11.5 x 15.5 and is in Near Mint condition. Beautifully matted and framed to total dimensions of 20 x 25 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $812.00
