Circa 1885 Baseball Lithograph
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $464.00
Stunning nineteenth-century baseball lithograph is actually a large card. This most striking and artistically pleasing display piece beautifully depicts the pastoral nature of the game during its formative days. Here, a runner is pictured in full stride as he makes his way towards first base while the opposing baseman awaits the throw. In the background, the base runner's teammates can be seen lounging on the ground watching the action. Printed on quality card stock, apparently one of a series of display lithos (as suggested by the code "87B" printed in the lower right corner). The print measures 6.75 x 10.75 inches and is in Excellent condition overall, with a small, barely noticeable hairline edge tear in the left border, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy. Beautifully framed to total dimensions of 11.5 x 16.5 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $464.00
