Low Grade Pre-1900 Tobacco Card Rarities Including Yum Yum Welch (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $6,380.00
Collection of two Hall of Famers and one non-Hall of Famer from three different classic nineteenth-century issues. Each of these three cards has significant condition problems (two are trimmed along the bottom, the third has serious back damage): 1) 1887 N172 Old Judge: Harry Wright - portrait. One of the key Hall of Famer rarities of the Old Judge set. This example is trimmed along the bottom border. It is still a very sharp-looking card with a bold, crisp image and outstanding clarity. 2) 1887 N184 W. S. Kimball Champions: James O'Neil. Front is Ex-Mt but with significant surface paper loss on back affecting 65% of reverse. 3) 1888 N403 Yum Yum Tobacco: Smiling Mickey Welch (line drawing style). This extremely rare nineteeth-century tobacco card of Hall of Famer Mickey Welch has been trimmed along the bottom border, and is otherwise in Ex-Mt condition. This is a very impressive group of pre-1900 cards, each with serious condition problems, but still with tremendous eye-appeal, highlighted by two Hall of Famers including a Yum Yum Tobacco. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $6,380.00
