Mickey Mantle Signed Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,160.00
These three Mickey Mantle signed items are consigned by a gentleman who personally arranged for Mantle to attend a corporate dinner in 1992, and were personally signed for our consignor at that event. 1) 8 x 10-inch color photo of Mantle signed "Mickey Mantle No. 7" in blue Sharpie ("10). Nr/Mt. 2) Hardcover first edition of My Favorite Summer 1956 by Mickey Mantle and Phil Pepe, inscribed "Thanks, Mickey Mantle 1956" in blue ink ("10") on the front flyleaf. The book is in Near Mint condition and is accompanied by its original dust jacket (Ex-Mt, with two minor adhesive stains on the front). 3) New York Yankees pro model cap signed "Mickey Mantle" in white marker ("8") on the top of the brim. Manufactured by New Era (size 7), the cap remains in Near Mint condition. As our consignor notes in his accompanying letter, getting the cap signed presented something of a challenge at the time. He writes "On February 5, 1992 I hosted an energy industry corporate event for our clients at The Water Club in New York City. At this dinner Mickey Mantle and his agent Greer Johnson were the celebrity guests. Mickey signed items for everyone at the dinner and these three items (photo, book, and hat) were signed then. We had agreed prior to the dinner that Mickey would only sign flats and baseballs so getting him to sign the hat took some extra coaxing." Also included with the lot is a photo of our consignor and Mantle sitting together during the signing session. This is an outstanding collection of three Mantle-signed items accompanied by a rare and ironclad provenance. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,160.00
