1935 Babe Ruth, Maranville, Dean Brothers Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,350.00
Red and green stitched "U.S. League" baseball with an eclectic selection of Hall of Fame signatures: Babe Ruth on a side panel (some light scuffing slightly affects the "e" and "R" of Ruth's signature, otherwise dark and bold, and without reference to scuffing grading a "7/8" overall); side panel opposite to Ruth features the signature of Rabbit Maranville ("8"); the sweet spot features the Dean brothers, Dizzy and Paul (both grading "7+"), and on the side panel adjacent to the sweet spot is Ed Brandt ("8"). This ball was almost certainly signed very in early 1935, the only year in which Ruth, Maranville, and Brandt were teammates with the Boston Braves. Ruth announced his retirement while with the Braves in Boston on June 2, 1935. The Ruth signature is ideally located to allow the ball to display beautifully as a single-signed example. The "U.S. League" ball, manufactured by the United States U. S. Athletic Company, is lightly toned and overall in Excellent condition. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
