Outstanding Babe Ruth Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $6,380.00
Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Babe Ruth in blue fountain pen on a side panel. Ruth has personalized the ball, "To Bill Marks, From Babe Ruth," with both the inscription and signature grading "8". Though undated, the manufacturer's stampings indicate that this ball was produced in 1946. When Babe Ruth signed balls for special presentation, he often would go to the extra trouble of personalizing the ball in this elaborate manner. With nonpersonalized Ruth single-signed balls often selling for many tens of thousands of dollars in high-grade, personalized examples such as this represent an extraordinary value in comparison. Many collectors actually prefer a personalized Ruth ball such as this both due to the greater value they tend to represent, and the far greater confidence in authenticity that is naturally provided by the personalization. This is an exceptional example which was obviously well cared for as a valuable keepsake by its original owner. The ball is very clean, with all of the manufacturer's stampings distinct and legible. Excellent to Mint condition. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,500. Reserve $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $6,380.00
