1929 New York Yankees Team-Signed Baseball With Ruth, Gehrig and Huggins
Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $8,700.00
Official American League (Barnard) ball signed in black ink by twenty-eight members of the 1929 New York Yankees including Ruth, Gehrig, Huggins, and six other Hall of Famers. The signatures of Ruth ("6/7") and Combs grace the sweet spot, while the signatures of Gehrig ("6") and Huggins ("5/6") appear on the same side panel. The remaining signatures are those of Dickey, Lazzeri, Durocher, Hoyt, Pennock, Meusel, Wells, Shawkey (coach), Robertson, Durst, Byrd, Koenig, Pipgrass, Bengough, Grabowski, Sherid, Nekola, Moore, O'Leary (coach), Fletcher (coach), Paschal, Lary, Zachary and one other (extremely faint). With the exception of the one signature that is too faint to read, the signatures range in grade from "3" to "7", averaging "5." This ball dates from Miller Huggins' final season with the Yankees, as the Hall of Fame manager passed away prematurely on September 25th of that year. The ball is lightly toned and has been coated with a layer of protective shellac. The majority of the manufacturer's labels remain bright and legible. Very Good to Excellent condition. While this is a medium-grade ball in terms of overall signature strength, this is a very attractive ball which displays particularly well due to its impressive Babe Ruth signature. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $8,700.00
