1887 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinets (4) and 1911 T3 Turkey Reds (5)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $8,700.00

Collection of nine cabinet cards comprised of four N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinets (including two rare brown mounts and one rare black mount) and five T3 Turkey Reds. All four 1887 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinets were once mounted in an album, and have glue and scrapbook remnants on the entirety of their reverses. The N173s are the following: 1) Boyce, Washington. Extremely rare brown mount. The white letters of the name contrast poorly against the white foreground. The image has excellent contrast. The front is about Ex. 2) Deasley, New York. Extremely rare brown mount. The white letters of the name contrast poorly and are almost illegible. The front is about Ex but the photo image has serious fading. 3) Gaffney, Washington. Extremely rare black mount. The white letters of the name contrast poorly and are almost illegible. Slight tear to mount in upper left, otherwise about Excellent appearance with a fairly strong image. 4) Morris, Pittsburg. Photo has scattered spotting and the appearance of a "washed out" look that may be the result of long ago exposure to water. Still, card has a strong image and a very pleasing Vg appearance. The glue and mounting remnants on these four N173s is more serious than usually found on Old Judge cabinets, but damage to the reverse of these blank-backed cards does not impact display value (though certainly does affect value). The unusual black and brown mounts of three of these four cabinets are particularly impressive. Also included with this lot are five 1911 T3 Turkey Reds: #3 Leach (very slight trim, Vg-Ex appearance), 22 Krause (name rubber stamped on back, otherwise Ex), 34 Rucker (Vg-Ex due to corner crease), 48 Murray (tiny pinpoint spot of paper loss on the front, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, otherwise Ex condition), and 92 Dygert (very slight trim, Ex to Ex-Mt appearance). Total 9 cards (4 N173s and 5 T3). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $8,700.00
