1887-1889 N172 Old Judge SGC Graded Collection (7)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,088.00
Exceptionally attractive collection of seven high-quality N172 Old Judges with fronts cards ranging from Ex to Nr/Mt condition. Each has been harshly graded by SGC (several graded less than Ex due to insignificant flaws as noted): Beatin (Cleveland, EX/NM 80), Ferguson (Philadelphia, EX 60), Getzein (Indianapolis, EX 60), Herr (St. Louis, Good 30, touch of paper loss on the reverse, Ex on the front), Kuehne (Pittsburgh, VG 40, pencil mark on reverse, front is Ex+), McKean (Cleveland, EX 60), and Williamson (Chicago, VG 40, light wrinkle on the reverse, otherwise front is Ex). Each card has a very clean reverse, though two cards (Herr and Williamson) have insignificant remnants of scrapbook removal on reverse which has severely impacted their SGC grades. This is an extremely impressive, very clean, and very carefully assembled collection of N172 Old Judges, assembled with great care one card at a time by an advanced collector in the 1980s, with a concern for contrast and the overall eye-appeal of each card. Total 7 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,088.00
