1948 Leaf Error Cards Including Slaughter/Paige Error (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,972.00
Collection of three extremely rare 1948 Leaf error cards, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. Blank backs and wrong backs have always fascinated card collectors, especially from the most popular and classic sets. Presented are three particularly rare error cards from the 1948 Leaf Gum issue, including one which features the front and back of two different Hall of Famers: Rare Leaf Hall of Famer Enos Slaughter on the front and the reverse of Rare Leaf Satchel Paige. Each of these three error cards may be unique. It is all the more noteworthy that each of these errors involve rare series cards. Includes: #5 Trucks - wrong back with #153 Floyd Baker bio on the reverse (PSA VG-EX 4, front is Ex; the slightly miscut back relates directly to the creation of the error as the "backs" were applied upside down on the sheet of Rare Leafs on which this card was printed, thus creating wrong back errors); 48 Schmitz - only known blank back from the 1948 Leaf set (Authentic - PSA will not grade blank backs but will encapsulate with authentic label; grades Vg); 127 Slaughter - wrong back with #8 Satchel Paige bio on the reverse (PSA GOOD 2, front is Vg and the back is slightly miscut). Rare and exclusive collection of three error cards from the popular 1948 Leaf set. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,972.00
