1919-1921 W514 "Black Sox" Set SGC-Graded Including Joe Jackson (7)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,900.00

The W514 "strip-card" set includes seven of the eight Chicago "Black Sox" who were banned from baseball for their alleged role in throwing the 1919 World Series. Offered is a complete subset of the seven "Black Sox" players from this issue, all graded and encapsulated by SGC: #3 Felsch (Authentic, not graded by SGC due to slight cutting imperfections, which is so common on strip cards), 15 Joe Jackson (GOOD 30), 31 Gandil (VG/EX 50), 35 L. Williams (Authentic), 82 Cicotte (EX 60), 91 Weaver (VG-EX 50), 105 Risberg (EX+ 70). This significant and very popular "set within a set," issued at the height of the media's attention to the scandal, is highlighted by Joe Jackson's only strip-card appearance. Total 7 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,900.00
