1909-1911 T206 Bill Sweeney PSA NM-MT 8 (Harris Collection)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $5,800.00
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Bright and crisp, with four square corners, bold colors, perfect centering, virtually flawless registry, and very clean front and back. The highly detailed, colorful image of Sweeney with red uniform accents really jumps off the colorful background. The extraordinary strength of the red printing on this card is particularly noteworthy, as this is the pose of Sweeney that is also known with no red printing, a printing variation that has long been identified in T206 checklists as the Sweeney "No B" variation. The red "B'" on Sweeney's uniform (and cap) has no outline; therefore, on cards where the red process has not been applied, it appears he has no "B" on his uniform or cap. We have found that the auction selling prices of cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T206 White Borders. SMR is $600. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $5,800.00
