Super High-Grade 1948 Leaf "Pirates" Near-Complete SGC Graded Set (31 of 49)

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,740.00

Extraordinary ultra high-grade near-complete set of 1948 Leaf "Pirates" includes 31 of the 49 cards in the set. Missing just the following eighteen cards for completion: #1, 5, 11, 13, 28, 30, 35, 42, 49, 62, 65, 92, 96, 100, 124, 125, 164, 168. All thirty-one cards have been encapsulated and graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. This is the cream of the crop from a small pack-fresh find of these nonsport classics. As their across-the-board NM/MT+ 92 grade by SGC suggests, these cards look like they were just opened from packs. All are bright and fresh, with bold colors, and sharp corners. The primitive design and unusual coloration process used by Leaf make this issue very susceptible to printing flaws and all the greater a challenge to collect in high grade. This set is also notorious for often being out of register. This is group is virtually free from all of these serious defects commonly associated with the set. Includes: #2, 7, 8, 9, 16, 21, 22, 23, 24, 31, 38, 40, 41, 45, 46, 50, 51, 58, 73, 78, 79, 80, 88, 99, 101, 112, 116, 133, 136, 158, 165. This is an extremely sharp looking collection of thirty-one high-grade 1948 Leaf "Pirates" cards offered as a single-collection. Total 31 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,740.00
