1938 R69 Gum, Inc. "Horrors of War" PSA MINT 9 Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,320.00
Extraordinary ultra-high grade collection of three different 1938 "Horrors of War" bubble gum cards issued by Gum, Inc., each graded MINT 9 by PSA. The exceptionally colorful graphics and popular subject matter of this issue make it one of the all-time classics of nonsport card collecting. Each card has brilliant colors with four razor-sharp corners and near-perfect centering. This collection of spectacular MINT examples consists of the following: #95 "Ras Seyum's Bodyguard Defends Palace," #162 "Spanish Volunteers Swim Icy River," and #208 "Insurgents Plant Their Banner at the Sea." As of this writing, a total of only thirty-seven "Horrors of War" have ever been graded MINT 9, and only two cards have been graded GEM MINT 10. All three of the cards in this lot are the highest-graded examples to date. We have found that the auction selling prices of cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets. This is an extremely high-grade collection of three 1938 "Horrors of War" cards, each the highest-graded and finest example known to exist. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,320.00
