Circa 1900 Allen & Ginter Tin Advertising Display
Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $580.00
Impressive and very rare circular tin advertising display, designed to hang on the walls of a tobacco store, advertising for Allen & Ginter's "Richmond Straight Cut Cigarettes." The tin charger features the famous "Allen & Ginter logo man" enjoying a smoke in the days before anyone knew better. The exceptional quality, bold graphics, and ideal size of the display (Diameter: 19 inches) make this a premier vintage point-of-sale tobacco advertising piece. The fact that it advertises for Allen & Ginter gives it all the more appeal to collectors. The advertising display has some light wear primarily along the border, including a few insignificant abrasions, as well as the very light crazing which is characteristic of early tin advertising displays. This piece is in exceptionally fine condition, with far less wear than normally seen on early tin signs, and with only the most minute imperfections which do not in the least detract from its extraordinary display value. Excellent condition overall. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$400. SOLD FOR $580.00
