1888 N86 Duke "Scenes of Perilous Occupations" Complete Set (50)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,088.00

Complete set of fifty 1888 N86 Duke "Scenes of Perilous Occupations" cards. Extremely high-grade set of these very rare and colorful non sport tobacco cards, with condition ranging from Ex to Nr/Mt(averaging Ex-Mt). Issued with Duke's Cigarettes, the set is entitled "Scenes of Perilous Occupations." Each card features a beautiful colorful lithograph of a scene relating to a specific job, all of which, not surprisingly, involve danger (examples of card titles: The Fireman, Electric Lineman, Circus Rider, etc.). The back of each card features text explaining the "scene of perilous occupation" displayed on the front. This is an extremely attractive set, with fascinating subject matter, and with outstanding eye-appeal. Duke's "Scenes of Perilous Occupations" are rarely offered as a complete set, and are highly prized by nineteenth-century non sport tobacco-card collectors. Total 50 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,088.00
