1979 Robert Rauschenberg Rookery Mounds - Gray Garden Signed Print
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,856.00
Robert Rauschenberg, along with Jasper Johns, was one of the most innovative and influential artists of the second half of the 20th Century. Like Johns, Rauschenberg rebelled against the Abstract Expressionism of the times and ventured forth to create a unique new form of art. Through the use of what he termed "combines" (a combination of everyday items with original painting) Rauschenberg changed the course of modern art. Those "combines" form the basis of nearly all of his later works and have resulted in his status as one of the leading artists in the world today. Offered is limited-edition lithograph, titled Rookery Mounds - Gray Garden, produced by Rauschenberg in 1979. The artist has signed and dated the piece in pencil along the lower left, adjacent to which is the piece's hand-numbered designation "38/55." Dimensions: 31 x 41 inches. The litho is in Near Mint to Mint condition and has been framed to total dimensions of 41 x 52.5 inches. LOA from Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
