Franklin Roosevelt Signature Endorsed U.S. Treasury Payroll Check and Engraving
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,640.00
Two magnificently presented Franklin Roosevelt signed items: one, an extremely rare Franklin Roosevelt endorsed Presidential paycheck; the other, a signed portrait engraving, both of which are housed together in an elaborate framed display. The paycheck, issued by the Treasurer of the United States, is dated February 28, 1935 and made out to "Franklin D Roosevelt President of the United States" in the amount of $312.50. Roosevelt has beautifully endorsed the check ("Franklin Roosevelt") in blue fountain pen (grading "9") on the reverse. The check has been individually mounted within a small, double-sided frame that has in turn been attached, by means of two hinges, to the front of the larger framed piece. When the hinged piece is turned, it not only allows the viewer to see the signature on the reverse of the check, but also reveals a matted engraving of Roosevelt signed by him in black fountain pen ("8") along the base. The check (8.75 x 3.75 inches) has a very light vertical crease, displays normal bank cancellation stamps and markings, and is in overall Excellent to Mint condition. The engraving (5.5 x 6.5 inches) is in Near Mint condition. This is an extraordinary interactive framed display and tribute to the only U.S. President elected to four terms. Total dimensions: 23 x 20 inches. LOA from Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $4,640.00
