1908 Wm. J. Bryan Delegate Badge
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,508.00
Absolutely stunning, gigantic celluloid badge designed to show support for 1908 Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan. We cannot imagine there is a more attractive or dramatic Bryan campaign celluloid. This extremely rare Denver Delegate convention badge can be seen across the room, and would serve as an ideal centerpiece to any general campaign collection, collection devoted to the 1908 presidential campaign, or William Jennings Bryan collection. The 3.5-inch celluloid features a crisp, striking black-and-white portrait of Bryan (as opposed to sepia, as is the case with most Bryan celluloids) with the legend "First Last and All the Time" above, and his identification provided below. "Denver" and "1908" appear on either side in the background. The celluloid has a cardboard backing on the reverse, and hangs from a patriotic red, white, and blue ribbon, with a "Delegate" pinback hanging bar. This is an extraordinary campaign display piece, and one of the most impressive political celluloids for any candidate or any campaign ever produced. It is also one of the rarest. This is the first we have ever seen. Surface paper loss to the small manufacturing label on reverse is of no consequence and is mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy. Height: 5.5 inches including ribbon and pinback bar. In spectacular Near Mint to Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,508.00
