John Hancock Framed Cut Signature Display

Magnificent framed display featuring perhaps the most famous of all signatures, that of John Hancock, the first signer of the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock's grandiose signature, featuring his customary flourish below, has been scripted in bold black ink ("10"). John Hancock (1737-93) was one of the most important figures in America's struggle for independence. As president of the Continental Congress (1775-77) Hancock was instrumental in helping to both organize and fund the revolution. Following the War he was elected as Governor of Massachusetts, serving in that capacity until his death. The signature cut (approximately 4 x 1-1/2 inches) has been beautifully mounted and framed together with an steel engraving of Hancock to total dimensions of 11.5 x 16.75 inches.
