LOT WITHDRAWN: Extremely Rare 1995 Augusta National Golf Club Masters Jacket

Starting Bid - $50.00, Sold For -

LOT WITHDRAWN

Offered is an original Augusta National Golf Club Masters jacket. Few, if any, awards in professional sports are as prized and recognizable and coveted as the green jacket bestowed on golf's Masters winner. Aside from the Masters winners, the only other examples of this revered sports coat in existence belong to the actual members of the Augusta National Country Club, and are never allowed off-site. So rare, in fact, are these jackets, that fewer than ten examples, to the best of our knowledge, have ever been permitted to leave the hallowed grounds of Augusta National. These include the jacket once belonging to Bobby Jones, which was sold many years ago at auction for $95,000; an example which is on permanent display at a prominent southern golf resort; and a 1960s example that appeared as Lot 1311 in Robert Edward Auctions' April 2005 sale, which sold for $37,700. This jacket, like our previous offering, also originates from a former club member. We are honoring the consignor's request, for the sake of privacy, to not publish the name of the original owner in this catalog. The various components of the garment are actually crafted by several different manufacturers to safeguard against reproductions. The jacket displays the distinctive Augusta National patch on the left breast and retains all its original buttons (two each sleeve, three center), which are manufactured by the Waterbury Button Company of Cheshire, Connecticut. The main body of the jacket is produced by "Hamilton of Cincinnati" and its distinctive manufacturer's label appears just below the interior right breast pocket. Located within the right breast pocket is the white manufacturing tag that lists the date of manufacture ("12/08/95"), the size ("45 Reg.") and production number ("334841"). Situated below the interior left breast pocket is an Augusta National nameplate bearing the name of the former club member. The jacket is all original and in Excellent to Mint condition. Unless you've got the game to outplay Tiger, Phil, Ernie and Vijay, this may truly be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire the most coveted and elusive object in all of golfdom. Reserve $0.
