Vintage Augusta National Golf Club "Masters" Equipment Bag
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,044.00
Circa 1960s golf bag issued to a member of the Augusta National Golf Club, home of golf's most prestigious tournament, the Masters. The bag, made of heavy Naugahyde, features the traditional green hue associated with the club and displays an applied emblem on the side panel bearing the "Masters" logo. Both the primary opening and a side-panel compartment feature a heavy nylon zipper with attached brass pulls. The Masters tournament was founded in part by golf legend Bobby Jones in 1934 and has been played at Augusta every year since that time. Augusta National Golf Club bags are rarely seen offered for public sale due to the tight control the club maintains over their issued property. Masters jackets, for example, have sold for tens of thousands of dollars at auction. This bag is the first we have ever seen or offered. The bag (which measures approximately 16 x 16 x 10 inches) displays moderate to heavy wear commensurate with its age and former use. Both zippers remain fully functional. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
