Circa 1910 T225 Khedivial Boxing Set Advertising Poster

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $812.00

Extraordinary full-color advertising poster for the circa 1910 T225 "Prize Fight Series" boxing set, which was issued with cigarette brands produced by The Khedivial Company. One card was inserted in each pack of cigarettes. This poster was designed to be displayed in tobacco stores to encourage patrons to collect the set. The entire set of twenty-five cards is pictured on the poster. Included are James Jefferies, Joe Jeanette, Stanley Ketchel, Jim Driscoll, Abe Attell, Packey McFarland, James Barry, Billy Papke, Johnny Coulon, Battling Nelson, etc. The advertisement across the top reads: "Prize Fight Series-No 10-25 Subjects-These Pictures Packed In The Following Brands of Cigarettes-Oxfords and Turkish Whiffs." Across the bottom the poster reads: "A Full Set Framed Will Be Sent on Receipt of $1.00-The Khedivial Co-178-180 Washington St-NY City." This is an extraordinary display piece featuring one of the premier boxing sets of the era. There are very few color advertising pieces featuring illustrations of insert cards from the 1910 era. This is an extremely rare poster which we have seen only one time previously. This example is bright and clean, extremely colorful, and ideal for display. The poster has some minor condition flaws, primarily in the form of creasing along the bottom below the advertising, but this has very little impact on its tremendous display value. Overall in Very Good to Excellent condition. Accompanied by a sample card from the set (Frayne) in Excellent condition. Dimensions: 25 x 15 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $812.00
