1889 N29 Allen & Ginter High-Grade Baseball Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,350.00
Super-high grade collection of three different baseball players (of the six ballplayers in the set) from the N29 Allen & Ginter Second Series Champions set. 1) Jas. H. Fogarty. Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only six examples have received this ultra high grade with none graded higher. Bright, crisp, and clean. The card displays four sharp corners with perfect registry and flawless colors. The reverse has just a hint of very light toning at the left side, possibly the result of long ago being removed from an album. This is extremely minor, but the only factor which we can see which might keep this gem from easily grading Mint. 2) Chas. H. Getzin. Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Bright and clean, front and back, with flawless colors and perfect registration. 3) John Morrell. Graded NM+ 7.5 by GAI. Crisp and bright, with four sharp corners, and centered very slightly to the left. Nineteenth-century cards are rarely found this sharp. This is an extraordinary collection of three high-grade gems from one of card collecting's most classic issues. Total 3 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
