1911 and 1921 Yale vs. Princeton Football Collection (2)
Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $290.00
Two rare and early souvenirs commemorating one of college football's oldest rivalries: Yale vs. Princeton. The first item is a complete ticket for the Yale-Princeton football game held on Saturday, November 18, 1911 at Yale Field. The ticket (6.75 x 2.75 inches) has a very light crease in the upper left corner (virtually undetectable) and is in Excellent condition overall. The second piece is an extremely unusual Yale pinback button, designed in the shape of a football, bearing the image of Marshal Foch, who was the supreme allied commander in World War I. The button was issued to attendees at a Yale vs. Princeton game in 1921 as part of the festivities honoring Marshal Foch at the game, and features an attached blue ribbon upon which hangs a smaller "Yale Bulldog" mascot enamel pin. Both the button (2.75 x 1.75 inches) and bulldog pin are in Near Mint condition. The ribbon is very slightly frayed along the bottom. Total: 2 items. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300. SOLD FOR $290.00
