1950-1960 Hank Aaron Pro Model Bat
Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $8,700.00
Dating from the earliest days of Aaron's Major League playing career, this H&B signature model R43 bat displays well-defined manufacturing stampings throughout. The bat is not cracked and displays heavy use including a few deep ball and stitch marks on the barrel. Factory records indicated two shipments of this particular bat (twelve total) to Aaron during the decade. The first shipment was sent on 2/6/55 and the second occurred on 1/5/57. Aaron debuted with the Braves in 1954 and quickly established himself as one of the greatest players in the game. Between the years 1954 and 1960, "Hammerin' Hank" won two batting titles, a home run title, one MVP Award and twice led the League in RBI and hits. He also led the Braves to two pennants and one World Championship over that span. Those early accomplishments only served to foreshadow his final accomplishments. Not only is Aaron baseball's reigning home run king, but he also ranks among the top five all-time in numerous offensive categories including at bats, runs, hits, total bases and runs batted in. Aaron game bats from the 1950s are extremely rare. Almost all known bat examples from this legendary Hall of Famer date from the latter portion of his career, with most dating from the 1970s. This is an extraordinary early Aaron bat dating from the glory days of the 1950s. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 32 ounces. Graded A8 by MEARS. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $8,700.00
