1889 N43 Allen & Ginter Second Series Champions (10)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,900.00
Collection of ten different non-baseball N43 Allen & Ginters large-format second series Worlds Champions. Three cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC. Comprised of: Carter, runner (VG 40, strong Ex appearance, downgraded due to a minute area of surface paper loss on reverse); Cummings, runner (EX/NM 80); Crocker, cyclist (GOOD 30, strong Ex appearance on front, downgraded only due to a rubber band mark on reverse); Lange, walker (Gd-Vg); Myers, runner (Ex); Webb, swimmer (Vg-Ex); Hill, club swinger (Ex); Harradon, cyclist (Ex); East, oarsman (Vg-Ex); and McCormack, skater (Vg-Ex). N43s are the rarest of the three Allen & Ginter "Champions" sets. They feature the same subjects and designs as the smaller N29 second series Allen & Ginters, but in a larger format and with extra background artwork added to each card's design. Measuring approximately 2.75 x 3.25 inches, the large-format N43 Allen & Ginters are widely recognized as one of the most attractive sets ever issued. The set features champions and stars of the day from a variety of sports. This is a very crisp, clean, sharp-looking group of these rare cards. Total 10 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,900.00
