1965-1968 Al Kaline Signed Pro Model Bat
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,392.00
Dating from the 1965-1968 manufacturing period, this H&B signature model "S2L" bat is signed by Kaline in black marker ("10") on the sweet spot of the barrel. The inscription "1968 World Series" (not necessarily in Kaline's hand) appears directly below the signature. Kaline's uniform number ("6") appears on the knob in vintage black marker. Moderate use is displayed throughout including ball, stitch and rack marks, and there is light pine tar residue on the handle. This bat corresponds perfectly with factory records from 1968, a championship season for Detroit. Kaline was one of the premier outfielders of his era and is one of only twenty-six players to have amassed over 3,000 hits. A fifteen-time all-star performer, Kaline finished his career with 399 home runs, 1,583 RBI and a .297 lifetime average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980, his first year of eligibility. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 31 ounces. Graded A7.5 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 2 points for use and an additional one-half point for the number on the knob). LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,392.00
