Circa 1989 Gary Carter Signed Game-Used Catcher's Glove
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,392.00
Mizuno pro-model catcher's glove used by Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter during the late 1980s. The "World Win" right-handed catcher's glove features the name "Gary Carter" embroidered in blue stitch along the outside thumb. Carter has signed the glove in black Sharpie ("6") directly above his embroidered name. Faint traces of Carter's name also appear in faded black marker on the reverse of the pinky finger. The glove displays moderate to heavy use, including a well-worn pocket, and all of the lacing remains intact. This glove was long ago part of the personal collection of legendary collector Dick Dobbins and is accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from him dating from 1992. Gary Carter was one of top catchers of his era, appearing in eleven All-Star games and winning three Gold Glove Awards over the course of his nineteen-year career. Today, his lifetime total of 324 home runs places him fourth on the all-time list for catchers. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2003. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,392.00
