1980 Earl Weaver Baltimore Orioles Game-Used Managers Autographed Jersey
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,190.00
Hall of Fame manger Earl Weaver wore this shirt during the 1980 season, when the Orioles won an impressive 100 games but finished second to the Yankees. In the neck of the jersey is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with the size "40." On the left front tail of the jersey is a label with the year "80" and set "1." Both are in black chain stitch. Weaver has flawlessly signed the orange alternate knit jersey in the tail ("10"). Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Orioles" in script-style lettering. On the back is "Weaver" in black tackle twill lettering on an orange nameplate. The player number "4" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. A very interesting feature of this shirt is that inside the left breast is a custom-made cigarette pouch which was added for Weaver, who was a very heavy smoker. The jersey shows light wear and, with the exception of the custom cigarette pouch added for Weaver, is 100% complete and original, with no alterations. An ideal jersey worn by one of the game's greatest Hall of Fame managers. SCD Authentic Grade: A10. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic, Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
