1968 Gaylord Perry NY Giants Game-Used Road Flannel Jersey

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $4,350.00

1968 Gaylord Perry New York Giants game-used road flannel. There are many Gaylord Perry knits in collectors' hands, from the later part of Gaylord Perry's career, but very few flannel jerseys from his early years. Over his twenty-two year career in the Major Leagues, Gaylord Perry won 314 games with pitches that confused both players and umpires. His success with the spitball amused fans and infuriated umpires and opponents. Sinner or saint, Perry was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991. Inside the collar of this jersey is a white felt patch with the name "Gaylord Perry" in black chain stitching. There are numbers written in black marker on either side of the "Perry" patch, "36" to the left and "46" to the right. On the left front tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with jersey size "46." Stitched below the manufacturer's tag is "68 46" denoting year and jersey size, respectively. Further down is a white dry cleaning tag with a white flag tag reading "Set 1 1968." "San Francisco" is across the front of the jersey and the number "36" is on the reverse. All letters and numbers are done in black on orange tackle twill. The jersey shows excellent game-use and has no alterations of any kind. One of the finest Gaylord Perry jerseys in the hobby! SCD Authentic Grade: A10. LOA from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
