1947 Ted Wilks St Louis Cardinals Game-Used Home Flannel Jersey
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $2,900.00
When much of the Cardinals' pitching staff was lost to the draft in 1944, 28-year-old Ted Wilks was called up to help fill the void, and given the opportunity for his Major League debut. The rookie compiled a sparkling 17-4 record for a league-leading .810 winning percentage, and earned his place on the roster long after the war had ended. In 1949, his fifty-nine appearances, ten relief wins and nine saves were all NL highs. In the neck of this cream-colored 1947 St. Louis Cardinals home flannel, zipper-front jersey is the size tag ("44"), "Rawlings" label, and adjacent wash tag. On the left front tail is the name "Ted Wilks" and the year "47," both in red chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the traditional "Cardinals" logo in red on blue embroidered stitch, with a red embroidered Cardinal perched on each end of a black embroidered bat. On the back of the jersey is the player number "28" in red on blue felt. There is a small area of light red staining in the collar. This 1947 St. Louis Cardinals home jersey is completely original and unaltered, and exhibits substantial game use. SCD Authentic Grade: A9. LOA from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $2,900.00
