1887 N175 Gypsy Queen Collection (5)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,930.00

Collection of five small "Old Judge size" N175 Gypsy Queen series cards, each graded by SGC: 1) 1886 "Brownie Champs" style Gypsy Queen portrait of Welsh. Graded 40 VG by SGC. Downgraded due to a vertical crease running the entire length of the card down the center that is far more easily seen from reverse, but is not particularly prominent on front. 2) Beautiful portrait of Myers, Washington. Graded 40 VG by SGC. Outstanding contrast. Square corners. No creases. This is a very crisp, clean card which has been downgraded due to very minor paper loss to reverse from long ago being removed from an album. It is otherwise in Excellent condition. 3) Schoch, Washington. Graded 50 VG-EX by SGC. Great pose with umpire in background. Strong contrast. Tiny surface crease at top barely visible on front. If you didn't know where the crease was from looking at the back of the card, you might not find it. Vg-Ex/Ex bordering on Ex. 4) Rowe, Detroits. Graded 40 VG by SGC. Great looking card with just a hint of glue residue in lower left, and extremely minor paper loss on reverse from long ago being removed from an album. 5) Danny Richardson, N. Y.'s. Downgraded due to a very light vertical crease running the entire length of the card down the center, and extremely minor remnants on reverse from long ago being removed from an album. This is a very interesting card, as this pose of Richardson is one of the nine which are known to exist in the larger N175 Gypsy Queen series, and could theoretically be paired up with a large version. Very sharp looking group. Total 5 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,930.00
