1996 New York Yankees World Series Trophy
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $6,380.00
1996 was the first of the modern Yankee dynasty years. Down 2 games to 0 against the Braves in the World Series, the Yankees came back with four victories in a row to capture their first World Championship since 1978. Following their victory, the Yankee players and coaches were each awarded personal World Series trophies. Presented is an original 1996 New York Yankees World Series Trophy. This trophy originates from one of the Yankees bullpen coaches. Of all the various trophies and awards created to honor excellence in the field of sports, perhaps none is more attractive or visually impressive than the Major League Baseball World Series trophy, produced by world renowned jewelers Balfour. The imposing design features twenty-eight gold-colored pennants, bearing the team name of each Major League franchise respectively, displayed around the perimeter of the black wooden base. The interior metal design consists of a silver baseball, set within a gold band, atop which rests a crown. Displayed directly in front of this are the 1996 World Series press pins for the Yankees and the Braves. The gold-colored band affixed around the base reads "World Champions - New York Yankees - 1996" in black lettering. Mint condition. Height: 12 inches. Diameter: 23 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $6,380.00
